I bought some new web toys and thought I would give it a try with my website! I did Greg's website and did a pretty good job, it only took two weeks to complete. It's all about content, never enough content. Or there is too much content. I am really trying to make this as brief as possible. With the economic turn down, and builders going out of business and banks not lending, the housing market has dried up for the most part.
You will see all of the pages are consistent and things are no longer here and over there. I use this site also as a test bed for other sites. So, I have more time to do these silly things. I am trying my best at learning CSS, Java Scripts, Spry and learning to get rid of tables. However, as of today I no longer use tables to organize my page elements. I use and somewhat understand DIV tags and now use them to organize my page elements. I have a CSS based Menu on all pages now. I also removed the "Facebook" plug-ins because they were hard to get along with, I might have one. I have installed CSS menus on all pages that are like www.brantdesign.com.
I also upgraded CS4 Web Premium to CS5 - so I have more training to do this summer. Believe me, it was expensive but well worth it. To remove electrical and telephone wires from a photograph was a daunting task and time consuming, now it's a breeze. Automatic lens correction is a cool idea however, it didn't come with a preset for Greg's camera.
My website is an open book of information for all to see, like the Photo Album on a coffee table. One other reason is, through our travels some people are still interested in seeing our source; whether it's for work or home. Oh, yes the pets of course! So, the website is just highlights, simplified. Think of it as a brochure...
This is a term used so lightly, it should be called Exploder. After Explorer version 6, I have tugged and pulled myself away from using that awful browser. I will not and refuse to even look at, use or play with Exploder version 8. First and obvious reason is the stark initial view, you can't find a damn thing. The other one is not so obvious, the power play towards web designers and the web development industry. The special attention that has to be given to the Explorer is still based in arrogance of the Microshaft business mode, I love that new buzz word "model"; it sounds so expensive. More and more people today are reaching for other solutions (better solutions) Firefox being one of them and Safari another. Don't get me wrong, they all still have their bug's from time to time, however they don't tell you how to design a web page their proprietary way. I have to admit, after beating my head all these years with WinCrap I have moved on to Mac where I can actually get my work done. So if you see a part of my site that looks a little strange, blame it on Microshaft. They say that 60% still use the Explorer but, I think they do because it comes with WinCrap. Now, saying all this do yourself a favor and download and install a better browser* or better yet - buy a Mac.
